Wildwood's Bison Safari is a one-of-a-kind safari experience that combines an informative and captivating presentation, guided walk, and up-close encounter with magnificent European bison.

 

Our mission is to educate, inspire, and connect visitors with the rich history and significance of these ecosystem engineers and how their presence is having a remarkable effect in the Blean woods, on the perimeter of Wildwood Kent.

Bison Calf 21 Sep2022 (Donovan Wright)

Your journey begins with an engaging presentation led by Donovan Wright, a Bison Ranger who has been with the Blean Bison Rewilding project from the start. Learn about some of the monitoring and technology being used and be inspired by stories of the bison’s individual personalities and their bison wisdom.

 

After the presentation, embark on a gentle walk around the perimeter of the woods. Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of nature as Don shares captivating stories about bison behaviour, habitat and their importance to the ecosystem. This leisurely stroll offers a perfect opportunity to connect with the natural world and gain an intimate understanding of the healing power of nature.

Whilst on your walk, there is a chance of seeing the free roaming bison, but you will also have the chance to witness the two bison bulls up close in our park, where the walk ends. Marvel at their sheer size and strength as you hear fascinating facts about bison, allowing you to observe these magnificent creatures in their element.

 

This is an authentic wilderness experience in the expert hands of our specialist bison ranger.  It is an immersive, interactive experience where you are encouraged to ask questions, give opinions and share experiences. The walking pace is gentle with frequent stops. You will need a reasonable level of fitness and be able to cope with walking on uneven ground.
