How to get here

Wildwood is located half-way between Canterbury and Herne Bay on the A291 Canterbury Road. Wildwood is easily accessible by bicycle, car or bus. Our full address is: 

 

Wildwood Trust, Wealden Forest Park, Canterbury Road, Herne CT6 7LQ.

 

Please note that satellite navigation can sometimes misdirect. On the A291, look out for the large road-side Wildwood sign showing a wolf and turn into Wealden Forest Business Park, between Herne Common and Broad Oak. Follow signs to the park entrance.

Heading east on M2

At junction 7 keep in right-hand lane onto Thanet Way/A299.

Take the A291 exit towards Canterbury/Herne Bay.

At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto A291.

At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Canterbury Rd/A291.

Follow the road for 2 miles passing through Herne Village, follow Wildwood signs to car park.

 

Heading west on Thanet Way/A299

Take the A291 exit towards Canterbury/Herne Bay.

At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Canterbury Rd/A291.

Follow the road for 2 miles passing through Herne Village, follow Wildwood signs to car park.

 

Heading north on A28

Turn left onto Sturry Hill/A291.

Follow the road for 2 miles passing through Sturry, follow Wildwood signs to car park.

Parking is free of charge, but we advise arriving early during peak periods to avoid disappointment.

 

It is our policy not to allow any dogs, including assistance dogs, on site due to the risk of disease and possible distress to the both the animals at Wildwood and the dogs. We also have walkthrough exhibits which are unsuitable for dogs as they have free-roaming animals like red squirrels. However, if you have any questions about accessibility please contract info@wildwoodtrust.org and we can talk about any alternative arrangements that might help.

 

Coach and mini-bus parking is strictly limited to off-peak visits only. We cannot accommodate large vehicles during holiday periods.

By bus

Wildwood is on the Stagecoach ‘Triangle’ bus route between Canterbury and Herne Bay, on the A291. Ask your bus driver for the Wildwood stop, it stops just outside.

 

By bike

If you’re planning to travel by bicycle, please be careful on the country roads leading up to Wildwood. We would recommend caution and hi-viz clothing.

 

By train

The nearest train stations to Wildwood are at Herne Bay and Sturry, with Wildwood a short bus or taxi journey from either station.
